Just a reminder!

This is just a reminder that our parent support group is just around the corner, next Wednesday. I hope to see you all there....
Also, I am working on having a great meeting for either April or May. It will be put on my the advocacy center and the topic will be building your advocacy notebook. I think this could be a huge benefit to our kids. We will need to move the time from 7-8 to 6:30-8 so we make sure we have adequate time. I will keep everyone updated.

Dentist anyone?

I know that we have had the discussion about dentists; however, we have a parent in Wayne County that is in need of a dentist for her child. If any of you have a dentist that you are comfortable with, please share the details. Send them directly to her email and I can also post the information here for all parents to see when and if they need it. Thanks for all of your help everyone!

February meeting all set up!

February's support group is all set up. We will have three great experiences to share. I have a child in the local public school in a self-contained classroom. I will share any information I have regarding that choice. Nancy will be sharing her knowledge as she has a child mainstreamed at BOCES. And, lastly, a family member to a close friend home schools her child. There are three great choices and we all have to choose what is right for us. Hopefully we will be able to share and learn from these experiences.

February update...

I just want to let everyone know that I have two possible contacts that have a lot of information on home schooling. I am going to see if at least one of them can come and share with us at the meeting. I will let you know as soon as I have any certain plans.
Also, Kelly, is providing snack, Nancy is bringing tea and I will be bringing coffee. Cassandra will be in the nursery again.
I also wanted to let all of you know that I have been thinking about doing something nice for Cassandra as she is donating her time. Let me know if you have any ideas; otherwise, I am thinking maybe a gift certificate. Let me know your ideas and anything that you would want to donate towards that, let me know! Thanks everyone!

February meeting and snack...

Okay, it is that time again. PLanning next months meeting. The topic is going to be public school vs. alternative options. Bring any information that you might want to share. You can also email me any info you have and I can see that everyone gets it. Kelly McMillin has volunteered to supply the snack also. If you have any questions, please let me know and I will keep you all updated!

January Meeting has come and gone!

Well, here it is. January of a new year. I am sure that this new year will bring us all a lot of great information. With that, we all know that will bring some diversity. January was a nice meeting. We discussed some issues about dealing with other children who treat our kids differently. We also discussed when and how much to tell our kids and their siblings. Some books and movies were discussed as well. We did not come up with a decision about next months meeting. If there is any topic in particular that you want to discuss, please let me know. We want to talk about what you want to talk about.

On another note, Vicki will not be at our next few meetings as she is now sharing her knowledge by teaching a college course. We will certainly miss her but I know that she will continue to lend us her thoughts on any topic that we discuss.

I also would love to have a volunteer for snack next month. Please, contact me if you have any interest. Thanks everyone and enjoy this 'odd' weather!
